Hastoe Receives Gold SHIFT Sustainability Award
Hastoe has received GOLD in the SHIFT awards in recognition of its efforts to reduce its environmental impacts across all activities.
SHIFT (Sustainable Homes Index for Tomorrow) is the sustainability standard for the housing sector. It is an independent assessment and accreditation scheme, provided by Sustainable Homes, a not for profit organisation. Sustainable Homes supports the housing sector through research, accreditation and consultancy making a difference to how businesses are run and upon people’s lives.
Sue Chalkley, Chief Executive, Hastoe said:
“We are extremely proud that Hastoe has achieved this Gold SHIFT Award. Hastoe cares passionately about the environment and it is fantastic to have our hard work recognised. We’re proud to say we developed the first rural affordable PassivHaus homes in the UK at Wimbish, in Essex. All our new homes are super energy efficient and we are now on site with our 10th affordable rural PassivHaus scheme. We have a programme of work to reduce our carbon footprint across all that we do, for example in our offices and this in our existing homes by investing in a retrofit programme to bring them all to our Hastoe Green Homes Standard.
“Our joint commitment to rural communities and the environment also ensures that we are providing a very practical solution to rural fuel poverty, particularly for communities that are off gas and entirely dependent on oil or electricity for heating.
“Achieving Gold standard is really encouraging for everyone in the organisation and we are thrilled.”
